Welcome to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service!

Discover Extension is an immersive, four-day orientation for new employees of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. New employees will gain an understanding of the mission and values of AgriLife Extension, how to leverage the resources within the Agency, and be welcomed to the Extension Family!

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is required to attend Discover Extension?

Discover Extension is our mandatory orientation for new agents and specialists. New hires in other positions are evaluated for attendance on a case-by-case basis with the supervisor, Employee Development team, and appropriate member of the Extension Leadership Team.

Do I plan my own lodging and travel needs?

For those who do not live in the Bryan/College Station area, we will book your hotel room. To arrange for a rental car, flight or other travel needs, contact your District Office Manager or Business Coordinator for assistance.

What should I wear for Discover Extension?

Throughout the four days, dress code is business casual. You will be asked to take a professional headshot, so we encourage business professional for that morning. On the final day, you will wear the branded apparel item that you are given at check-in for a group photo.

How long should I expect to be at Discover Extension?

Day One: Hotel Check-In will begin at 3PM followed by Orientation Check-In from 3:30PM to 4PM. Our first session will start at 4PM.
Day Four: We will finish on the last day by 1PM, at which time you will be dismissed to travel home.
