A new appointment puts Director Doug Steele at the helm of important federal relations on behalf of the national Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP), a top leadership group representing all land-grant university Extension CEOs. Dr. Steele chaired the full committee in 2012 and now the group has tapped him to chair its budget and legislative subcommittee. In his new role, Dr. Steele will work directly on efforts seeking federal budget support for Extension education, including both capacity and competitive funding.
Dr. Steele also holds other ECOP positions that further the interests of Texas Extension. He is a member of ECOP’s new Innovation Task Force, as well as its National System Task Force. The former will develop strategies to steer innovation in the areas of learner engagement and organizational development, while the latter has surveyed leaders on questions related to Extension’s national system and brand promise.
In addition, Dr. Steele serves on the national eXtension Board of Directors and regularly helps to train new Extension CEOs.
